PRESS RELEASE – BACK IN BUSINESS – 4X1 HOUR for BBC2

Due to air Autumn 2007

“Back in Business” (working title) is a new series for BBC2 primetime produced by Twenty Twenty Television, one of the UK’s leading production companies responsible for such programmes as The Choir, Broadcast and Indie award winning That’ll Teach ‘em, Wakey Wakey Campers and the Emmy award winning Brat Camp.

In this exciting new four part series, we’ll be looking at 50-65 year olds who want to return to work and young people who are new to the game. They will fight it out for a month in an exciting leading company within their industry. At the end of a one-month competitive probation period, only one will succeed – ideally being offered a full-time contract. We want to see if age and experience is worth more than youthful enthusiasm or vice versa?

Covering a different industry every week, from hairdressing to advertising, “Back in Business” will combine the drive and business acumen of The Apprentice with the warmth and humour of Young at Heart.

“In a survey of 300 employers, 80% said that they supported the idea of people working into their 60s but 75% had no employees aged over 60.” (source: Help the Aged). Many people find retirement unfulfilling and find themselves yearning for the routine and social interaction of the workplace. With new legislation and a changing attitude towards older workers, the Government is now trying to increase recruitment from the older employment market and encourage those nearing retirement age to work longer. To put it to the test we’re sending Grandad and Grandma back to work and at the end of the month we want to see who comes out on top – young gun or golden oldie?

We are particularly looking for retirees from hairdressing and advertising but will also be looking at fashion, fitness, property and tour operating. We are looking for people who would like the chance to get back to the floor and prove that old doesn’t mean past it.

If you think you know someone who would be ideal for this fantastic opportunity…or if it sounds like a challenge you would like to take on yourself, please call 0207 284 1441 or email stuartfroude@twentytwenty.tv
