Finance at Fifty

Understanding the basics of finance and developing a personal financial strategy is an essential aspect of modern day life. With so many costs to plan for - education, housing, supporting children, pensions, caring for relatives … thinking long term about your financial situation and having the right amounts in place at the right time requires very careful thought.

It requires some sound financial knowledge; it means developing your own set of lifestyle objectives; and it requires the discipline to see them through. It also requires flexibility since nothing ever turns out exactly as planned. Personal financial planning is a lifetime exercise but requires review and fine-tuning every so often.

One such time is as you enter the second half of your life, certainly your working life, when domestic and work circumstances start to change. Our one-day workshop, Finance at Fifty, explores the issues, techniques and approaches needed to understand and deal with your finances at this stage of your life – and it does so in an impartial and objective fashion.

Most financial advice is not impartial or objective. The pension firm which goes into great detail explaining why people should have pensions wants you to buy pensions. The equity release company which explains all about equity release is trying to do one thing – guess what?

Here, on the other hand, we have no financial products to sell. Financial knowledge, yes, and sound financial building blocks – but no products – and so we can tell it like it is. You will then be better equipped to make your individual decisions as you see fit.

Finance at Fifty will be particularly useful to anyone who is around fifty or who has already passed fifty and is heading towards thinking about retirement. It is equally useful for anyone who hopes to reach fifty sometime in the future - which is pretty much everyone.
