What
is in my prime aiming to achieve?
Our
aim is to encourage, inspire and support
resourceful individuals – men and
women - to make these years the most productive
and fulfilling of their lives. We do so
through providing regularly updated, sound
information and advice for those who want
to run their own businesses, to find new
employment opportunities, to continue
their self-development through acquiring
new interests, relationships or friends,
or to give something back to the community.
Who
are you for?
Roughly
speaking, we are aiming to reach people
in the 50 to 70 age group and, within
that, those who still have plenty of ambition
and drive. However, there is no hard and
fast rule with regard to age. From our
experience, the kind of thinking and personal
decision-making which leads people to
reflect and re-evaluate their lives probably
begins in the mid to late forties and
so we see this as a sensible time to
start discovering what we have to offer.
And enterprise and initiative have no
upper age limit so we are not, in any
way, going to be prescriptive.
What
exactly does in my prime represent?
The
in my prime website is
the information site for in my prime
ltd a company established to help
support, create and campaign for opportunities,
recognition and skill development for
this crucially important economic and
social group. Our motivation comes from
our own experiences and knowledge of those
of our colleagues and friends. We believe
that those who are in their prime are
currently at best marginalised, and at
worst, can be exploited, discriminated
against and ignored.
Having
briefly said what we are, it is important
to acknowledge what we aren't:
-
We
are not flashy, frivolous or gimmicky.
-
We
are not a sales or marketing portal.
-
We
are not a political or lobbying group
-
We
are not motivated by commercial ends
-
We
are not a dating agency or lonely
hearts club
Do
I have to become a member and is there
a cost?
in
my prime has no membership requirement
and access to the site is free of charge.
As you will see, there are numerous fact-sheets
you can download for your own use. We
are also happy for you to email these
to friends, family or colleagues as long
as you do not use them for commercial
purposes (the copyright rests with in
my prime ltd). Should you wish to use
them or quote from them for any purpose
other than this, please contact us for
permission.
How
do I use the site?
Most
people access the site because they have
particular area of interest or issue in
their life that they wish to address,
e.g. their work situation. As you will
see (if you haven’t already) there
are detailed fact sheets relating to each
area (a complete list can be found under
Downloads)
with links to other appropriate sources
of information (our Directory
section). It’s also worth having
a look at the Your
views section to see what
other people may have to say. You can
also contact
us with particular queries
you may have – we don’t promise
to answer them all, but will do our best
to respond.
Can
I contribute?
Absolutely!
We would love to have your views, experiences,
tips, recommendations or criticisms both
to increase our own knowledge and also
to share with other site visitors on the
Your views
section of the site. Please use our response
form or email enquiries@inmyprime.co.uk
. All we ask is that you give your name,
email address and phone number and that
you try and keep your submissions relatively
short. And of course – legal, decent
and truthful!
How
can I keep up to date?
Visit
the site regularly – new information
is being added all the time. As well as
this, subscribe
to our regular e-bulletin which will alert
you to all the hottest topics and items
of particular interest. You can unsubscribe
at any time if you no longer wish to receive
it and your details will not be used for
any other purpose. If you choose to join
our mailing list or to visit this site
we will keep you updated on what we see
as relevant in terms of opportunity, government
thinking and possible suitable areas of
education or personal development. Where
appropriate we will applaud, comment on
or criticise what we see. If we have missed
something then we would love to hear from
you.
Can
I talk to other subscribers directly?
Not
at present. If you have a request for
information, contact us and we may choose
to circulate it in our e-bulletin and
will let you have other readers’
feedback. Similarly visit the Your
Views section
to see what other readers think, and feel
free to let us have your own views. The
reason for not having a chat room facility
is that we want to keep the content fairly
tightly controlled in the early stages
of the site in order to deliver the highest
quality – we have been fairly unimpressed
by the content of some sites which purport
to be ‘informational’ but
just seem to be glorified chat room sites.
Do you endorse all the advertisements on the site?
No. Unconditionally not. In line with our objectives of attempting both to bring a wide range of information of use and interest to our site visitors, and encouraging visitors to the site, we accept advertisements from Google Adsense. What this means however is that we have no great editorial control over the ads we feature, some of which may be very strange indeed! However, we enjoy looking at them and have learned a lot and the process means that the ads we do get will become more and more relevant and useful the longer we are established. So – the risk’s entirely with you if you want to do business with any of these people. There are some suppliers we believe are great, many of the rest are unknown to us and have possibly yet to be proven, so do let us have your feedback and recommendations.
